Group and organize fields is available to selected accounts. If you don't see these features, contact your FarmQA representative.
The field list supports grouping, saved views, and aggregate totals so you can review your fields the way you actually work — by crop, by organization structure, by variety, or any other column.
You can save any combination of column layout, filters, sort, and grouping as a named view, then switch between views without reconfiguring the grid each time.
Switch or apply a view
The view selector appears at the top of the field list grid. Four views are available to all users by default:
- None — no grouping applied; fields appear in a flat list. This is the default when you first open the field list.
- Crop — fields grouped by the crop assigned for the current season.
- Variety — fields grouped by variety.
- Organization — fields grouped by your org tree structure.
To switch views, select the view selector and choose a view from the list. The grid updates immediately. Your last selected view is remembered when you return to the field list.
Group fields by any column
To group by a column that isn't covered by a default view, save a custom view with that grouping applied (see Save a custom view below). Any column in the field list — including custom property columns — can be used as a grouping.
When grouping is active, you can apply multiple levels: group by one column first, then by a second column within those groups.
Read group totals
When grouping is active, the grid shows aggregate rows so you can see rollup values without exporting:
- Subtotal rows appear below each group's data rows. When multiple grouping levels are applied, a subtotal row appears at each level.
- Grand total row appears at the bottom of the grid.
What each column shows in a total row depends on the column type:
| Column type | Total row shows |
|---|---|
| Numeric (acres, yield, nutrient totals, irrigation, rain) | Sum |
| Status (harvest status, compliance status) | Count per status value |
| Count (pesticide applications, contracts) | Sum |
| Percentage (applicator info %, weather data %) | Weighted average |
| Text (field name, legal description) | Blank |
If a group has no values in any aggregatable column — for example, all visible columns are text — its subtotal row is hidden automatically. The grand total row at the bottom is not affected.
Collapse and expand groups
Select the arrow next to a group header to collapse or expand that group. When a group is collapsed, the aggregate values for that group appear inline on the header row so rollup totals stay visible without expanding. Text columns remain blank on the collapsed header row.
This behavior applies at all nesting levels when multiple groupings are active.
Planned: Collapse All and Expand All controls will appear in the toolbar when grouping is active.
Export grouped data
When you export to Excel while grouping is active, the export carries the grouping structure and total rows through, with values matching what the grid shows.
Select Export while a grouped view is active to download the file.
Save a custom view
Agronomists and Enterprise Admins can save a named view that captures the current column visibility, column order, filters, sort, and grouping.
- Configure the field list — apply the grouping, filters, column order, and sort you want to save.
- Select the view selector.
- Select Save as new view.
- Enter a name for the view and select Save.
The view is now available to all users within your enterprise.
Modifying the grid while a saved view is active doesn't overwrite it automatically. To update a saved view, reconfigure the grid and then select Save from the view selector.
Rename or delete a custom view
Agronomists and Enterprise Admins can rename or delete any user-created view. The four default views (None, Crop, Variety, Organization) can't be renamed or deleted.
- Select the view selector.
- Select the view you want to manage.
- Select Rename or Delete.
