To help you keep track of location specific information, FarmQA has added geomarkers to our suite of digital agronomy tools. FarmQA comes preloaded with Insect Trap, Scouting location, and Soil sample geomarkers, and users can create new location marker types to fit their unique needs. Specific geomarkers called pins can then be added to location marker datasets from either the FarmQA web app or mobile app. Check out the article below to learn more about creating custom geomarkers and using them FarmQA.

Setting up custom geomarkers
- Log in to your FarmQA account from the web app if you aren't already.
- Click on the Settings icon, then go to the Markers tab.
- Click the blue Add button at the bottom of the screen to start setting up your custom geomarker (pictured below).
- Enter the following information to setup your custom geomarker (pictured below):
- The Name you'll use for this geomarker.
- A Description describing the geomarker.
- Use the Pick marker type dropdown menu to select the type of marker this will be. In this case, it will be a Custom location type.
- Toggle on the Pins only show in the growing season they were created in switch to restrict access to your geomarkers to the season they were created in. This is most useful for scouting related geomarkers.
- Use the dropdown menu under the Select an icon for your custom marker header to select the icon you want to denote your geomarkers. The icons you have to choose from can be seen in the picture below.

- Toggle on the Show markers in scouting and in the map switch to have access to your geomarkers in both the FarmQA web and mobile apps.
- When you're done, press the Save icon.
Assign a scouting template to a geomarker type
- Log in to your FarmQA account from the web app if you haven't already.
- Click on the Settings icon, then go to the Markers tab.
- Select the marker type you want to assign a template to, then use the Use scouting template dropdown menu to select a template you want to associate to this geomarker (pictured below).
- When scouting, you'll now be able to click on that geomarker and create a scouting report with the scouting template you just associated with that marker.
Add geomarker pins from the FarmQA web app
- Log in to your FarmQA account from the web app if you haven't already.
- Click on the slide out map pane and find the custom geomarker layer under the MARKERS header.
- Click on the Edit icon next to the custom geomarker layer (pictured below).
- Either drag the zipped shapefile containing the point layer or click inside the box to browse your computer for the folder (pictured below).
- Use the dropdown menu to give a name to your pins, then click the Upload button to finish your upload.
Place a geomarker from the FarmQA mobile app
- Log in to your FarmQA account from the mobile app.
- Locate the field you want to add a geomarker to from either the MAP or LIST tab.
- Within the field, click on the field and click the Drop pin at location button (pictured below).
- Select the custom pin type, give the pin a Name and Description, and click the SAVE PIN button (pictured below).
