Edit a field boundary – FarmQA

Fix a field that was drawn or uploaded in the wrong place or the wrong shape. You can move the whole field, reshape it by dragging its points, remove a stray point, cut a hole in it, or replace its shape with a file.

Edits change the field's boundary for the selected growing season only — the field's master boundary stays as it was. See How field boundaries work across growing seasons. To remove a field entirely, see Delete a field.

Open the field for editing

On the Home map, select the field.
In the field pane, select Edit field.

Move a field

Double-click the field boundary.
Drag from anywhere inside the boundary to the field's correct location.
Select Save.

Reshape a field

Double-click the field boundary. Its points appear, with a small midpoint between each pair.
Drag a point to move it. Drag a midpoint to turn it into a new point — new midpoints appear on either side, so you can follow an irregular edge closely.
Select Save.

Delete a point

Double-click the field boundary.
Select the point to remove. A white outline shows it's selected.
Select Delete in the upper-right corner.
Select Save.

Cut a hole in a field

Select Add polygon.
Draw the area to remove, inside the field.
For another hole, select an empty spot on the map outside the boundary, then select Add polygon again.
Select Save.

Replace a boundary with a file

Drag a file into the edit pane, or select the upload box to browse to it.
Check the new shape on the map.
Select Save.

The file must:

Be a shapefile, KML or KMZ, or GeoTIFF file.
Hold one field only. A field with more than one piece is fine.
Contain polygons only — no lines or points.
Contain no zones.
Have a boundary that doesn't cross itself.
