Split one field into multiple fields

Split a field into smaller pieces when part of it is managed differently this season — planted to two crops, for example, or divided for scouting. The Split tool cuts the field into two pieces as close to equal in size as possible, and you then adjust each piece to its real shape.

A split applies to the current growing season only. It doesn't change the field's master boundary, so future seasons start from the original shape. A split can't be undone within the season, but you can get the original shape back — see Go back to the original shape. Split the field

1. Sign in to FarmQA using the beta link above. If you sign in any other way, the Split tool doesn't appear.
2. On the Home map, select the field.
3. In the field pane, select More (…), then Split.
4. In the Split the field window, select Split. FarmQA splits the field into two pieces. The new piece is named [Field name]-New.
5. Adjust each piece to its real shape. See Edit a field boundary.

To divide the field further, split either piece again. There's no limit on how many times you can split a field in a season.

Go back to the original shape

1. Remove the crop assignment from the field, then assign the crop to the field's master boundary. See Assign a crop to a field.
2. Delete the piece you don't plan to keep — the one named [Field name]-New, which holds no data from past seasons. See Delete a field.
