Not all field boundaries are a straightforward as a square quarter section or a circular field irrigated with a center pivot. Field boundaries composed of multiple fields or fields with holes in them can easily be created within FarmQA. Draw a hole in your field by creating a subtraction
Draw multi-polygon fields
- Log in to your FarmQA account from the web app.
- Navigate to the Map tab, then click the Add button in the bottom right-hand corner.
- After the basic shape is drawn, click off the boundary but still within the map view (see below). This will make the draw tools selectable again.
- Choose the Add polygon tool for a second time and draw the outline of the second field.
- NOTE: the second field CANNOT overlap with the first.
- Repeat the prior step if the field has more section.
- Click Save when done.

- Log in to your FarmQA account from the web app if you aren't already.
- Click on the Map tab, then the Add button in the bottom right-hand corner to draw the initial field boundary.
- If needed, see these instructions for more information on creating the initial field boundary
- After the basic shape is drawn, click outside of the field boundary but still within the map view to finish the drawing. This will make the draw tools selectable again.
- Choose the Add polygon tool and draw the area you would like removed within the field (Picture 1).
- NOTE: This process can be repeated if you have multiple holes to draw within a field.
- Click the Save button to save the changes to your field (Picture 2).

Editing Fields to Add Holes
- Log in to your FarmQA account from the web app if you aren't already.
- Locate the field from the Map view, click on the boundary, then select Edit field from the slide out pane.
- Proceed to create holes with the Add polygon tool, remembering to click off the boundary between polygons.
- Click Save to save your changes.
- Your field will update with the additional hole(s) added to your field boundary.
