Users can create field boundaries within the FarmQA mobile app in addition to the FarmQA web app. This allows users to digitally map their farm and scout fields while they are on the go or away from their computer. Check out the instructions below to learn how to draw field boundaries in your FarmQA mobile app.

Drawing a new field
- Log in to your FarmQA account from the mobile app.
- On the Fields > Map tab, click the Add and then click the New Field button to add a field.
- NOTE: If the Add button is disabled, check that you are online. Then verify that you have an active growing season and that a scouting template has been assigned to at least one crop. For more information on assigning a template to a crop, see the step-by-step instructions here.
- The App is now in create field mode. The Question mark button in the upper right-hand side of the screen will display what mode of the drawing tools you are in along with instructions for each.
- Adjust the map to the right location and zoom level.
- Select a polygon or circle drawing tool that best suits the field boundary.
- Tap the corners of a field or drag your finger around the boundary to create the shape. Complete the shape by clicking on the first point again.

Troubleshooting for driving field boundaries
- You'll get a message that reads The shape may not contain any crossing lines if you lines in your shapefile cross each other. The points where this happens will be shown as red points in your shapefile. Simply drag these points away from each other, or click on the point then select the Erase button at the top right-hand corner of the screen to delete it (pictured below).
- If you get a message that says Invalid shape: Separate shapes may not overlap, your second polygon may be too close to the edge of your first polygon and might overlap with it. Move your second polygon away from your first to make sure that they don't overlap to save your field.
