FarmQA uses growing seasons to group your field assignments, scouting reports, and recommendations by growing season/year, so that you can better organize and access your data. FarmQA does not automatically create new growing seasons year after year, this is a manual account maintenance process that account administrators need to do. Making sure that your growing seasons are properly setup is critical to making sure the data in your FarmQA account is stored properly. Refer to the article below to learn how to setup and properly configure your growing seasons.
Assigning growing season states
Create a new growing season
Available from the: WEB APP
Permissions: ENTERPRISE ADMIN, AGRONOMIST
- Click on the Settings
icon, then click on the Growing Seasons tab.
- Click on the blue Add
button in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
- Select one of the two following options to create your growing season:

Duplicate growing season
creates a new growing season that is an exact copy of the growing season you've selected in the left-hand side of the screen. Your selected growing season is highlighted blue. Information that is copied from the selected growing season include crop assignments and field shapes.

New growing season
creates a new blank growing season. The boundaries you initially see in this growing season are your master field boundaries, so you won't be able to see any of these boundaries in the FarmQA mobile app.

Duplicate growing season
- Complete the following steps setup your new growing season (pictured below):
- Assign a Name to your growing season. This will typically be the year of the growing season.
- Add a Description for your growing season (optional).
- Use the State dropdown to assign a state to your growing season. Learn more about assigning growing season states in the section below.
- Set Start date and End dates for your growing season.
- When you've completed the above steps, click the Save button at the top of the screen to save your new growing season.
NOTE: in addition to accessing this information from the Settings page, you can click on the growing season in the upper right-hand corner of the FarmQA web app. Click on the Add button at the bottom of the menu to redirect yourself to the Growing seasons page (pictured below).
Assigning growing season states
Available from the: WEB APP
Permissions: ENTERPRISE ADMIN, AGRONOMIST
- Click on the Settings
icon, then go to the Growing seasons tab.
- Click on the growing season you want to edit. The growing season you're editing will be highlighted a light blue. Use the State dropdown menu to assign a growing season state (pictured below).
- FarmQA stores growing seasons in the following states:
- Draft: Use this state for growing seasons you're setting up but aren't ready to publish to all of your users. Think of this as a 'crop planning' state. Growing seasons in this state can be accessed from the web app and data can still be edited from there.
- Active: To be used for the "current" growing season, or the season where scouting data should actively be stored in. Most users will typically only have one Active growing season at a time. Only active growing seasons will show on mobile.
- Archived: Use this state to retire your growing season when you're done for the year. Growing seasons in this state can still be accessed from the web app, and all your data can still be accessed from there.
