Check the status of background operations

Some work in FarmQA runs in the background after you start it — importing field boundaries, generating a PDF report, building images from an uploaded file, sharing fields with ExtendAg. The Logging view shows you what ran for your enterprise, whether it succeeded, and what went wrong when it didn't, so you can fix the cause yourself instead of opening a support ticket.

The view covers background operations only. It is not a record of everyday edits — creating a field or changing a recommendation doesn't appear here.

Open the log

Select Settings.
Select Logging.

The log opens with the most recent operation at the top.

Read a log entry

Each row is one background operation:

Created — when the operation ran.
Username — the login that started it. Scheduled operations have no username.
Status — Successful, Warning, Error, or Cancelled.
Source — the kind of work that ran. See What appears in the log.
Error code — a plain-language reason when the operation ended in a warning or an error. Successful operations leave this blank.

Select a row to open the details pane on the right. The details vary by source, and any error message appears there under Message. Select the divider to collapse the pane when you want the full width for the grid.

Details that can appear on any entry, when FarmQA has them: Field, Parcel, Growing season, Enterprise, Root enterprise, Parent enterprise, Map layer, User, Login, and Message.

Narrow the list

Filter any column to a value — for example, show only rows with a status of Error, or only ExtendAg field sharing entries. Status and Source give you a list of values to choose from rather than free text.
Group by Status or Source to see counts per group. Drag the column into the group bar above the grid, and use the ungroup button to clear it.

What appears in the log

Eight kinds of operation are logged. Each one shows its own set of details when you select the row.

What the statuses mean

Status	What it means	What to do
Successful	The operation finished and did what it was asked to do.	Nothing.
Warning	The operation finished, but not everything came through — some fields were skipped or some varieties weren't imported.	Open the row and read the Error code and Message to see what was left out.
Error	The operation stopped before it finished.	Open the row and read the Error code and Message. Most errors name the fix, such as recreating an expired connection.
Cancelled	The operation was stopped before it completed.	Start it again if you still need it.

Frequently asked questions

Q: I ran something and it isn't in the log. Why? A: Only the eight sources listed above are logged. Anything else you do in the product — editing a field, saving a recommendation — isn't a background operation and won't appear.

Q: The details pane says there are no details to show. A: Some operations complete without any extra information to record. A successful weather update, for example, has nothing to report beyond its status.

Q: I only see my own enterprise. A: The log is scoped to your enterprise. FarmQA support sees across enterprises and can help if an issue looks like it spans more than one account.
