Your organization structure is the tree that holds your operation in FarmQA: your account at the top, then the growers, farms, regions, or other groups beneath it, with fields assigned to the bottom level. Where each person sits in the tree controls what they can see and change, so a structure that matches how you actually work keeps your data secure and makes field imports simpler.

Plan your structure
The default structure is Grower › Farm › Field. Each entry in the tree — a grower, a farm — is an organization in its own right, and people can be given access to one organization and everything beneath it.
Set the tree up the way your business runs:
- A grower running their own operation — farms directly under the account, fields under each farm.
- An agronomy or retail business — one grower per customer, with that grower's farms and fields beneath. Give each customer access to their own grower so they see their fields and no one else's.
- A larger operation — add a level such as Region or Area above your growers.
The organization types you can add — Grower, Farm, Region, and so on — are set for your account. To add a new type or change what your levels are called, contact FarmQA Support.
Add an organization
- Go to Settings › Organization.
- In the tree, select the organization you want to add beneath. To add at the top level, select your account at the top of the tree.
- Select Add (the plus icon) and choose the type to add, such as Grower or Farm. If your account has only one type, the button adds that type directly.
- Enter a Name.
- Select Save.
The new organization appears in the tree beneath the one you selected.
Rename an organization
- Go to Settings › Organization and select the organization in the tree.
- On the Details tab, change the Name.
Changes on the Details tab save automatically a moment after you stop typing. There's no Save button.
Move an organization under a different parent
Move a farm to a different grower, or a grower under a new region, without re-creating anything. Everything beneath the organization moves with it.
- Go to Settings › Organization and select the organization in the tree.
- On the Details tab, choose the new organization from the Parent dropdown.
The organization moves in the tree right away. You can't move your account at the top of the tree, and you can't move an organization beneath one of its own sub-organizations.

Set an organization's map color
Give each grower or farm its own color so you can tell them apart when you color fields on the map.
- Go to Settings › Organization and select the organization in the tree.
- Under Organization color on the Details tab, select Use custom color.
- Choose a color.
An organization set to Use parent color takes its color from the organization above it. To see the colors on the map, choose Color by farm from the field color menu — see Color Fields by Farms.
Delete an organization
Deleting an organization also deletes every organization beneath it. Move any farms, growers, or fields you want to keep to another organization first.
- Go to Settings › Organization and select the organization in the tree.
- Select Delete.
- Select Delete again to confirm.
You can't delete your account at the top of the tree from here. If you delete an organization by mistake, contact FarmQA Support.
Move a field to a different organization
(Web only) Reassign a field when it changes hands, or when you restructure and it belongs under a different farm or grower.
- On the Home map, select the field.
- In the field pane, select Edit field.
- Choose the new organization from the Organization dropdown.
- Select Save.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Why doesn't the type I want appear when I select Add?
A: The Add menu lists only the organization types set up for your account. Contact FarmQA Support to add a new one.
Q: Why can't I add, move, or delete some organizations?
A: You can only change organizations you have access to. Deleting also depends on access to the organization above: if your access starts at one grower, you can add, rename, and delete farms beneath it, but you can't delete that grower. Ask your Enterprise Administrator if you need broader access.
