Overview
In addition to getting data into your FarmQA account through making scouting observations in the mobile app, you can send your metric datasets to the FarmQA Support team and have us upload them to your account. Applications for this feature include having your field level profitability data, crop quality metrics, and soil test reports uploaded so they're viewable within your FarmQA account. Your data can then be graphed and tracked within FarmQA through our Analytics feature.
At present, FarmQA does not support the functionality of having you upload your own metric data, so in the meantime, we'll upload your data for you. Check out the article below to learn more about how to format your files and what to include in them before you send them off to the FarmQA Support team.
Metric import file requirements
Metric import file requirements
FarmQA supports the following file types for metric import:
- KML/KMZ files.
-
ESRI Shapefiles stored in a zipped folder.
- NOTE: The zipped folder needs to contain a .shp, .shx, and .dbf file to properly upload.
- Microsoft Excel spreadsheet saved as a CSV file.
Check out this article to learn more about working with KML/KMZ and ESRI Shapefiles.
Importing metric data
The different fields in the attribute table of your KML/KMZ and ESRI Shapefiles are what stores your metric data and related information. Make sure the following fields are included in your shapefile/spreadsheet for the metric upload to work properly:
- Organization: the organization branch in your FarmQA enterprise that contains the farms your metric data is associated with.
- Field Name/ID: the field your metric data is associated with.
- Growing Season: the year/growing season you want your metric data stored in.
- Date: the date your data observations were made on, if you have one.
-
Location: if you're uploading data that includes multiple observations made at different points in the field (i.e. soil sample locations), you may want to have points associated with those points for mapping purposes. Having a column/field for latitude and longitude will allow us to associate a specific location with each data point. If coordinates are not supplied, all data points will be mapped at the center of the field they are associated with.
Once you've setup your metric data in this way, get in touch with the FarmQA Support team who will assist you with your data import. Please find the FarmQA Support contact information below:
