Write a prescription from a management zone

Turn a management zone into a variable rate prescription by giving each zone a rate. You can write rates for one product, or add several attributes to the same prescription, such as a nitrogen rate and a seeding rate. When you're done, you download the prescription as a shapefile ready for your monitor.

You need a management zone on the field first. If you don't have one, see Create a management zone or Upload a zone map.

Open the zone

1. On the Home page, select the field you want to write a prescription for.
2. In the map pane that slides out, select Layers.
3. Find the management zone you want to use and select Create prescription.

If you're finishing a zone in Zone Designer, you can start from there instead. Select Save and create prescription, then continue with the next section.

Name what you're applying

1. In the Specify attributes window, enter the name of what you're prescribing, such as nitrogen or seeding rate.
2. In the dropdown beside the name, choose Number for a rate or Text for a label.
3. To prescribe more than one attribute, select Add and repeat steps 1 and 2.
4. Select Next.

Set the rate for each zone

1. In the Specify the values for each zone window, enter a value for each zone.
2. Optionally, add context for your grower or applicator in Description.
3. Select Export.

The prescription downloads as a zipped shapefile containing .DBF, .PRJ, .SHP, and .SHX files. Load the zipped folder into your monitor as-is.
