Create a soil sampling task type
- Log in to your FarmQA account from the web app.
- Click on Work , then go to Task Types.
- Click Add button at the bottom of the screen (pictured below).
- Fill in the following information for your new task (pictured below):
- Name your task type, in this case Soil sampling.
- Use the Select task category dropdown to set your task type to a Soil sample task.
- When you've entered this information, click the Save button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Create a soil sampling task for a field
- Log in to your FarmQA account from the web app if you aren't already.
- Click on Fields tab, then click on the box next to the name of the field you want to add to a soil sampling task to.
- Click on the Schedule task button at the top of the screen (pictured below).
- In the Create tasks page, page, click on the field you selected to create a grid soil sampling task for that field (pictured below).
- By default, you'll be able to Add points in the Define sampling locations window. Click on the Apply grid button to define grid soil sampling points (pictured below).
- Complete the following steps to setup your grid soil samples:
- Set the number of acres you'd like each sample to represent. By default, the grid is drawn so you're collecting 1 sample per acre. By setting this to 2, you'll be collected one sample for every two acres.
- Toggle the Pause button based on whether you want to rotate the orientation of the soil sampling grid or move the map.
- Leave a note for how many samples you want collected in this field if you desire.
- When you're ready to move on, click on the Accept button next to the Apply grid header.
- You can now move any points you aren't happy with, like if any of your soil samples are drawn right on the field border. To do this, click on the point you want to move and drag it to it's new location (pictured below).
- You can also delete any points you don't want included in your grid soil sampling task. To do this, click on the point you want to delete and click the Delete button in the upper right-hand corner of the window (pictured below).
- Click the Save button at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen to take you back to the Create tasks window.
- In the Create tasks window, click on the Next button to go to the final step in setting up your soil sampling task (pictured below).
- Complete the following steps to setup your soil sampling task:
- Use the Sample depth dropdown to select the depth you want your samplers to sample to.
- Use the Finish by calendar to select the date you want your samples to be collected by.
- Set the Priority of this task.
- Select the Assignee for this task from the list of users in your account.
- Click the Save button to complete setting up your grid soil sampling task.
Completing a soil sampling task
- Log in to your FarmQA account from the mobile app if you aren't already.
- Click on the Work icon, then click on the task you need to complete (pictured below).
- From the task page itself, click on the blue arrow button in the lower right-hand corner of the screen to access the soil sample points you need to connect (pictured below).
- Click on the point you're collecting a soil sample at and enter the barcode information in the Enter barcode number box. Click OK when you're done (pictured below).
- Click the back arrow in the upper left-hand corner of the screen when you're done soil sampling.
- Back on the task page, click the green Submit button at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Click the Save button on the next page to complete your soil sampling task (pictured below).
