Create a soil nutrient map

Turn a field's soil test results into a map of each nutrient, so you and your growers can see where levels run high or low. Share the maps with growers in a map book, or use them as the starting point for a prescription. You pick the season, dates, and depths to pull results from, and you can tie the map to an existing management zone so results are summarized zone by zone.

Create the map

1. Select Soil, then select the Samples tab.
2. Select the field, then select Create soil nutrient map.
3. On the Create soil nutrient map page, set what the map pulls from:
   • Use management zone — turn on to summarize results by zone, then choose the zone in Management zone.
   • Growing season — the season to pull soil results from.
   • Start date and End date — use these when a season has more than one set of results and you want only one collection period.
   • Depth(s) — the sampling depths to include.
   • Name — a name for the map.
4. If you're using a management zone, set how samples relate to it:
   • Turn on Automatically assign zones to the soil samples based on the soil sample locations to tie each sample to the zone it sits in.
   • Turn on Overwrite any existing management zone information on the soil samples to replace zone assignments from an earlier run.
5. Select Create.

Get nutrient maps automatically when results come in

You don't have to build every map by hand. FarmQA can create nutrient maps as soon as soil results arrive:

• Results you import from a file — turn on nutrient map creation in your soil sample import profile. Each import then builds maps for the fields in the file. See Create a soil sample import profile.
