Overview
The first step to using FarmQA Advice is to create a set of products that can be used for recommendation writing. The process of adding products to FarmQA can be done though 1) a product look-up via an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) integration 2) a spreadsheet import via FarmQA support or 3) manually adding products. This article walks through all three options.
If you are looking for instructions on the entire recommendation writing process, see this article.
Adding Products via the EPA Look-up
Importing products via the EPA Look-up is an easy way to get products added to your account. The detailed instructions can be found below.
- Click on the "advice" tab-> click the dropdown arrow on the "+ new product" button (see below)
- Then click "+ Import from EPA"
- On the following screen you can search products by EPA number or name. After finding the product you want, click the + icon left of the product. You can then repeat the process before importing a group of products in bulk.
- After finding all relevant products, click the "add products" button
- Note: content is populated per product automatically but you can add additional information like:
- "type"- Fungicide, herbicide, insecticide (etc.)
- FRAC resistance groups per active ingredient
- Target- this is what the pesticide combats and can be searched upon when writing recommendations. For example, you can search "white mold" and you will see all products with white mold listed as the target. You can list multiple things within target.
- Rate- this will be the default rate brought into the recommendation, it can be changed at anytime.
Importing Products to FarmQA
Importing products from a spreadsheet is a new feature that's not quite ready for external users yet. But the good news is that we're happy to help get your products into the system.
The first step is to create a spreadsheet that lists all the product information. If you already have a products spreadsheet that's great, send it our way support@farmqa.com. If not, you can use the Product Import Template attached below.
The product importer uses the column headers to match up your product information with our database. Each row in the spreadsheet represents a single product.
- The spreadsheet must contain a ProductName column, since that is required when creating products.
- Other header names must match our system. For example, If the spreadsheet contains a RegisteredName column then that value is put in the Registered Name field on the product. If there is no Registered name column in the spreadsheet that's fine. None of the created products will have a value in the Registered Name field.
- The importer ignores columns in the spreadsheet that aren't in the import template.
- The importer is picky about columns that map to drop-downs in the UI. For example, the ProductType column should only be set to one of the values displayed in the UI (Herbicide, Fungicide, Adjuvant, etc).
- You can specify multiple crops in the CropNames column by separating them with a |
Once the spreadsheet is ready, send it to us at support@farmqa.com and we will import it into your enterprise.
Feedback- if you would like to import products from a source other than the EPA, please let us know we are always looking for feedback.
Manually add products in FarmQA
A third option to adding products in FarmQA is to do it manually. In the end, this will result in the same functionality in FarmQA as the first two options, it will just take longer to build up your product database. Steps for manually adding products can be found below.
- Click on the "advice" tab-> click the dropdown arrow on the "+ new product" button (see below)
- Then click "+ new product" option again in the drop down list
- This will populate a blank "form" to fill out per product.
- Note: only the name section is required
