Overview
FarmQA Scouting can be used to capture soil sampling location points and sample information. This can be done by creating a soil sampling template, then using the map notation tools within the App to drop GPS pins. See the instructions below for more detail.
Creating a soil sampling template
- Open FarmQA Controller on a computer
- Click Scouting->Templates-> then click the blue "+" button to create a new template
- NOTE: Additional information on creating a new scouting template found here
- Contact FarmQA Support if you need help with this step
- Title the template something like "Soil sampling" and click the black "+" button to add a new section. You can add any question you would like, some example questions are
- Sample information
- Time- Pick list
- Moisture- Pick list
- Core length-Number, set a default
- Location- Text
- Sample information
- Click Save- in the top right-hand corner
Marking locations in FarmQA Scouting
- Open FarmQA Scouting
- Locate and select the field you are soil sampling within the app
- Click the blue plus button when you are at your sample location, this will drop a GPS pin using your devices GPS (see below).
- Next click "choose template"-> Then "soil sampling" (see below)
- This will allow you to fill out the sampling questions per location, like time of day, core length, soil moisture etc.
- After completing the questions you can click the back arrow in the top left-hand corner and drive to your next sampling location.
- Once arrived, click the blue plus button again and repeat the process.
- Submit the report when done. The locations and data can now be viewed within FarmQA Controller.
