After removing the Nitrate tips from the storage bottles it is important to soak the sensors for 30 Minuets in 20 ppm solution before testing a soil sample.
Mixing
When placing the sample cup onto the mixing station it helps to rotate the sample cup as if screwing it onto the mixing station. This helps shift the soil out of the way of the blade.
For every sample, make sure the extended mix time toggle switch is turned “ON”. This ensures a 3 minuet mix time, allowing for complete nitrate release.
After the mixing station completes its 3 minuet mixing cycle (when motor stops running). Use the base of the 2 tablespoon scoop to manually mix the soil slurry for an additional 30 Seconds. When manually mixing, run the base of the scoop along the bottom rim of the cup to make sure ALL soil is included in the slurry.
Tip Cleaning
When cleaning the sensor electrodes (red and gray) gently dab the bottom of the electrode. Do not wipe horizontally when cleaning, as this can easily damage the electrode and shorten it.
Storage Bottles
When placing the storage bottles back on the electrode sensors, make sure they are being twisted counter clockwise during installation. If the bottles are turned clockwise during the installation, then the electrodes can unscrew from their position and cause a system error in the software.
It also helps to place just the storage bottle cap on the electrode first, and then screw the bottle onto the cap after it is in position.
